Welcome to Florida AIDS Walk 2012!
Thanks for stopping by … we’re glad that you’re here! The truth is, even after thirty years in existence, HIV/AIDS is still attacking our community, and we here in Florida are perched right in the middle of ground zero. The AIDS crisis is far from over, and our friends and neighbors need our help.
In 2012, we – the Florida AIDS Walk family – are setting out to fight and win yet another battle in the war against AIDS, and we want you to join us! Through Florida AIDS Walk, in addition to raising awareness throughout our community of the fact that more than 145,000 of our fellow Floridians are living with HIV/AIDS, we generate financial support through pledges and donations to provide the care and services that they so desperately need. The money we raise stays right herein Florida, and does cool things like buy mobile HIV testing vans, fund free HIV testing, create HIV awareness and prevention education programs, and provide free or low-cost medical care for HIV positive people in need! Unlike Florida AIDS Walks of the past, Florida AIDS Walk 2012 is a 5 (not 10) kilometer walk that will take place on Sunday, May 20th, and will start and end at the beach! What’s more, because our Walkers love a good time, we are planning a food and music festival to take place on the beach after the Walk! A whole new event is in store for us: an event that is entertaining and fun enough to be worthy of our Florida AIDS Walk walkers!
Funds raised by Florida AIDS Walk will enable the expansion of free HIV testing and prevention education in Florida’s Broward and Miami Dade counties, and provide healthcare and support for HIV-positive individuals throughout the state. With your help, AHF Pharmacy, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Out of the Closet, and each of our 2011 Florida AIDS Walk Beneficiaries – to be announced soon – will be empowered to carry out this mission.
How can you get involved?
- LEAD THE CHARGE! Create a Florida AIDS Walk Team and be Team Captain!
- FALL IN LINE! By joining a team or walking as an Individual Walker.
- VOLUNTEER to help us on the day of the Florida AIDS Walk. We need your help!
- DONATE to sponsor an individual walker or a team, or give directly to Florida AIDS Walk.
